Professor Carlo Selmi is leading the Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital. 

Since 2009, he is the responsible of the Autoimmunity and Metabolic Laboratory, dedicated to the study of the possible mechanism linked to the progression of autoimmune diseases. 

The research focuses on four main areas: 

• - The epigenetic mechanisms that regulate the environment-genomic interface by influencing the susceptibility and the phenotype of chronic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in the model of discordant monozygotic twins for disease. To date, the laboratory has biological sample of discordant couples for numerous diseases.
• - The target antigens of autoimmunity modifications that affect the development of the course of autoimmune diseases. In particular, the laboratory studies the post-translational modifications of joint collagen in rheumatoid arthritis.
• - The prevalence of non-organ autoantibodies, such as anti-nucleus and anti-ENAs and disease specific autoantibodies, such as anti-citrulline and anti-endomysium in a non-specific population of health adults and the significance of the positive founds over time.
• - Gender medicine in real-life, through the analysis of administrative databases.

The team holds dedicated clinics also for, spondiloarthritis and connetcive tissue disease, and it is active in articular ultrasound, videocapillaroscopy, arthrocenthesis and joint injection of steroid or hyaluronic acid.  The Division includes an inpatient clinic for complex cases. All group members are fluent in spoken and written English

Current Teaching Activity: Professor Selmi works as Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Milan since 2006. Furthermore, he holds a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Division of Rheumatology of the University of California at Davis since 2005.

He is member of the American College of Rheumatology, American Association of Allergists and Immunologists, and the Italian Society of Rheumatology. He serves on the International Group for Research on Psoriatic Disease (GRAPPA) and the working group for autoantibody standardization within the ACR (ASC).

Dr. Chetan Prakash is a Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon with MBBS, D-Ortho, and DNB (Ortho) qualifications. He has extensive experience with hip and knee replacements, revision surgery, hip resurfacing, and other orthopaedic surgeries. He has completed a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Traumatology from Kanto Hospital Bruderholz in Basel, Switzerland. Dr. Prakash speaks English, Arabic, and Hindi, and has a special interest in sports injuries, Ilizarov external fixator, interlocking nails, and hip and knee arthroplasty. He has published his research thesis on limb lengthening in international journals.

Dr. Saurabh Singh is an experienced Ophthalmologist with 11+ years of experience and expertise in Comprehensive Eye Checkup, Computerized Eye Testing, Lasik, Cataract Surgery, Cornea Transplant, Ocular Surface Reconstruction, Keratoprosthesis, Keratoconus Management, and Glaucoma Management. He has both national and international publications and is a regular guest speaker in scientific meetings and CDE's.

Dr. Venus Rawat is an ENT Specialist Surgeon with MS in ENT and MBBS. She has experience working in Indian hospitals and a fellowship in sleep apnoea surgery from Singapore. Her special interests include endoscopic and microscopic ear surgery, myringotomy and grommet insertion, endoscopic sinus surgery, septoplasty, turbinoplasty, removal of tonsil and adenoid using coblation technique, snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea surgery, microlaryngeal surgery, and vertigo management.

Dr. Adel M Jibril is an expert in treating complex autoimmune diseases with extensive experience in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. He is fluent in Arabic, English and Russian and has an MBBS, MD, PhD, FACRM, ACPM, AAP, UFR, SH.

Dr. Vivek Sharma is an experienced Orthopedic & Joint Replacement Surgeon with 14+ years of experience. He is a D.Ortho and DNB qualified surgeon and has performed over 5,000 primary complex and revision surgeries. He has expertise in performing primary & revision hip/knee arthroplasty, knee osteotomy, as well as treating osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and pain. He is also a founding member of the Rajasthan Arthoplasty Center of Excellence.
